🃏 Card Flip

One card per player, and exactly one dud. Everyone picks a card, then they are revealed one at a time. No explanation needed, which makes it the perfect first game.

How to play

  1. There is one card per player. One of them is the dud.
  2. Pick a card within 15 seconds. A card someone else already picked can’t be taken.
  3. If you don’t pick in time, one of the remaining cards is chosen for you.
  4. Once everyone has picked, the cards are flipped one by one in random order. Whoever holds the dud loses.

Great for

  • Warming up the group
  • When there’s no time to explain rules
  • Mixed ages, kids to grandparents

Tips

  • It’s pure luck, so there is no strategy. The fun is in waiting to see who blinks first.
  • The dud’s position is set by the server before the deal and isn’t sent to anyone until it’s revealed.

Points and the unluckiest player

  • The last-place player in each game gets 3 unlucky points. With 4 or more players, second-to-last gets 2 and third-to-last gets 1.
  • The final game counts double, so a comeback is always possible.
  • After the last game, whoever has the most points is crowned "Today’s unluckiest". Ties are settled with a sudden-death Card Flip.
  • The host can tap "One more round" to start again with the same group right away.
